New Jersey Transit provides convenient and fast connections to New York City and Philadelphia via the North East Corridor line.  A trip from the NJ Transit Metuchen station to mid-town Manhattan (34th Street Penn Station) takes 40-50 minutes, with good frequency during the morning and evening business rush hours.
